The facts

Sharpless 175 is an emission nebula in Cassiopeia, catalogued as LBN 596. SIMBAD gives its distance as 5.4 kpc (−1.1 kpc / +1.1 kpc) — ≈ 18,000 ly, measured by its motion through the Galaxy from 2 measurements. The light reaching us from it now left it about 18,000 years ago, when early Homo sapiens lived through the ice ages. SIMBAD measures it at 4.2′ × 1.7′ on the sky — 14% of the full Moon's width. At that distance, that angle means it is roughly 22 light-years across. Framing uses its catalogue size instead: 2.0′.
